Turmeric the Golden Child

Ingredients : Ginger

Turmeric, a plant in the ginger family, is native to Southeast Asia and is grown commercially in that region, primarily in India. Its rhizome (underground stem) is used as a culinary spice and traditional medicine. This is one of the fastest-growing dietary supplements.

In India , turmeric is used in Ayurveda and other traditional Indian medical systems, as well as Eastern Asian medical systems such as traditional Chinese medicine. Traditionally used for disorders of the skin, upper respiratory tract, joints, and digestive system.

Recently, science has started to back up traditional claims that turmeric contains compounds with medicinal. These compounds are called curcuminoids. The most important one is curcumin.

Benefits

Turmeric — and especially its most active compound, curcumin — have many scientifically proven health benefits, such as the potential to improve heart health and prevent against Alzheimer’s and cancer.

It’s a potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant. It may also help improve symptoms of depression and arthritis.

While these benefits are possible, they are limited at this time because of curcumin’s scarce bioavailability, and more research is needed.
